Okay, this is an amazing thing. Over 40 years have passed since the original compostion with a young Vangelis titled "Summer Dream" appeared in the Greek summertime film Operation Apollo. That WONDERFUL song was never released beyond the movie, even though a soundtrack to the film was released. The movie itself has never been sold commercially on video. It has been broadcast on Greek TV from time to time, and the film has been circulated by the traders. However, the Greek female singer, Agni, must be a fan of this cool movie, and has, for the first time, offered her version of "Summer Dream" on her latest release (just released in February 2006!). The album is titled OTAN ALLAZEI O KAIROS, with the English title: When the Season Changes. I have been listening to this track over and over again. It's no secret, I love early Vangelis music, and even though his music is classically-oriented these days, he surely could write a great pop song. And I love the film. It is not a classic by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a happy, fun film. That Vangelis tune is one of the highlights in the movie, and Agni does it justice on her new album. Finally, a way for others to hear this Vangelis tune! Cheers to Agni for covering this song!
