Astral Abuse/Who Killed French 7" front coverThis single is the type of item that makes collecting Vangelis records fun. Alpha Beta is Vangelis, but if you miss the fine print, you would never know it. Vangelis must have had a blast recording the "666" album, and he surely made some interesting friends during that time. The tracks are "Astral Abuse/Who Killed?". "Astral Abuse" was written by Vangelis, Silver Koulouris (a member of Aphrodite's Child in the beginning and at the end, but not in between), and "Vilma". Now, for the longest time, people thought this should read "Milva", and it was reported that Milva was the vocalist on this record. Not true. There is indeed a Vilma, Vilma Ladopoulos. The B-side " Who Killed?" was written by Vangelis and Giorgio Gomelsky, the person who was "passing by" during the recording of "666", and the person responsible for the recording of the jam sessions known as "The Dragon" and "Hypothesis". His record company, BYG, held those recording and eventually sold them in a disputed action that resulted in the removal of The Dragon and Hypothesis from the market place. This record did not sit in the vault like those recording, being released right after recording in 1971. To top it off, the sleeve artwork is by Vangelis. A real prize here, and won't be found cheaply.
