17 Songs Greek CD front coverAnother successful Greek vocalist from the 60s and currently recording, Maria Farantouri completed the 17 Songs project in 1990, which included three new compositions that Vangelis wrote exclusively for her, and which were recorded in Sound Studio in Greece, where Vangelis records, using one of his sound engineers, Nikos Despotidis. From the liner notes, I translate the German text as such: "Another, important new co-operation was with Vangelis Papathanassiou, who composed and orchestrated three songs particularly for this album and transformed it in music in quite his own style. I thank him much. Vangelis dedicated his life to music. He is a friend, it is a joy to collaborate. I thank also Michalis Bourboulis, who made Vangelis songs come alive with his texts". Actually, Maria later stated that Vangelis wrote five songs for her, so where are the other two???
