Verità Nascoste by Le Orme is a very unusual album, as not too many performers can say they recorded in Vangelis' Nemo Studio without any involvement with Vangelis. It was not intended to be that way though. John Holman of Phonogram International had negotiated with Vangelis for his creative involvement with this 1976 album (recorded in Nemo during the month of October), perhaps due to the fact that Vangelis had success with Socrates and their Phos album in Greece. However, after meeting with the well-established Italian progressive band, it was decided that Le Orme would arrange and produce this album by themselves. They did have full use of the studio, with Keith Spencer Allen pitching in as the sound technician, and Marlis Duncklau as an assistant. I've listened closely to this album, and will admit that I usually am biased when there are questions as to Vangelis' involvement in something (I usually think he is...like on Jon Anderson's Olias of Sunhillow album), but I truly do not hear anything on this album to make me think Vangelis is noodling in the background. The album is enjoyable, some interesting ideas, some standard prog passages, and a bit thin production-wise in places. But I feel comfortable that Vangelis is not involved in any fashion on this album...of course, I got the CD and LP, just in case! There are Japanese items for this album too. Maybe I'll have to get those...
